Wing Woman

“One of the benefits of having mature relationships is knowing that you have powerful females in your corner - women who always have your back.” - Shanna Forrestall

Gayl Pinnock, jewelry designer and owner for Vintage and Divinity models the new WING WOMAN necklace.

If you ask me to think of the powerful women I know that I could depend on in a difficult circumstance, I’d pause - not because I can’t think of any, but because I finally have a list.

It took me until I was in my thirties to learn how to form and maintain strong relationships with females I consider my peers. My own insecurity and immaturity combined with a history of misogyny that encouraged me to feel a “lack mentality” when it came to positions and power for women left me unable to attract the kind of females I wanted in my life. These days I have an array of amazing people in my work, friend and “framily” circle, because I’m doing the work of evolution and growth and attracting amazing creative empathetic souls!

Awhile back I woke up out of a dead sleep with an idea for a piece of jewelry. In a dream, I saw two angel wings, connected, but able to be disconnected and had the concept of the “Wing Woman” piece in my head. I wrote it down immediately and since I’m an ideas person, not a jewelry designer, I reached out to one of the most talented ones I know - Gayl Pinnock of Vintage and Divinity. She’s a talent and I own quite a bit of her jewelry because I love her creative mind and positive energy and her work always helps me to ground and to feel my most beautiful and my most “me”!

The Wing Woman concept is simple. I wanted to help create a piece that celebrated women who “have your back”.

“When Shanna called me, I knew right away I wanted to help her vision come to life. Just like our friendship, I’ve come to appreciate the role that mature and supportive women in my life. It took some R&D to come up with a concept we felt was ‘just right’ but it was worth the effort. This collaboration is unique and we’re very proud to share it with my customers and our friends.“

Gayl is a super creative who takes her work seriously and she worked on quite a few concepts before we settled on this one. We looked at original wire designs, but we wanted something clean and functional and I love what she created.

The necklace comes with two parts so that you can buy it and wear it yourself as a single or double chain, or… you can split it with your favorite “Wing Woman”.

The product is a limited run piece that comes in a variety of colors and we hope to inspire women with this beautiful and functional piece to celebrate their personal power and most faithful supporters. It also has a 10% giveback with each purchase to our chosen non-profit - GIRLS INC. OF CHATTANOOGA.

“The necklace is not just about honoring others, but it is also about honoring yourself. The first woman we need to support is ourselves and wearing this necklace is a continual reminder to us all to show up for ourselves with self-love and self-care and then to celebrate our commitment to the ones we love and help to carry.”
